After completing dozens of courses, Shantel Perreal saw the need for all of the Allopathic modalities to be taught in one, cohesive course. This vision become reality as she developed and launched the Equine Remedial Therapist Certification Course to its first round of students in Fall of 2014.
This intensive, 4 year program is a combination of classroom work, practical hands on components, self study and case studies. With a maximum of 10 students per year, individualized help and attention is available to every student. Understanding the anatomy & physiology of the horse is the key to be successful as a therapist. Our students are taken through right from the individual cell to the whole make up of the horse. This course challenges the student to look outside the box, examine the whole picture of what is going on and use all the clues available to them to come up with an effective treatment plan. Our students are coming out with over 4800 hours at the certification level, with some students reaching over 6000 hours with their elected extra curriculars and participation in research and studies.

Our School is conveniently located at our home base of Canadian Equine Therapy Institute just 5 minutes north east of Edmonton or 5 minutes west of Fort Saskatchewan. We have on site horses for hands-on work, for the students.
For the first time, students will be able to learn all of the Allopathic modalities in one course! Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Massage, Acupuncture, Herbology, Homeopathy and more will be covered in this equine course. All of the therapies work hand in hand; and as Shantel often says, “the more tools in your basket, the better!”
The Equine Remedial Therapist Course is presented at a University level standard. Students will cover 25 modules over the course of 4 years. The program runs for 5 weeks, in classroom, every second month from September through May. In between classroom modules, students are given practical homework, study materials and case studies to complete pertaining to each module. Upon completion of the course, the successful Equine Remedial Therapists will possess the skills to be able to perform rehabilitative and restorative care or treatments using the following modalities:
