It takes a village to raise kids…..this statement is so true and resonates in my soul. I also believe that this is true for my horses, without the vets, farriers, trainers, clinicians, and all the information that is out there of how to do things different or better than that of our predecessors….we would still be doing things in the proverbial box. I also believe that God puts people in our path when we are in need… this would be true of Shantel. My Gelding was not doing well this spring and although we had all the traditional help… he was telling me that things were still not headed in the right direction. Through an association with my vet I had Shantel come to work on my boy … I was beside myself with grief and the thought….. if things don’t get turned around and fast….I was going to lose him. His body was out in so many places that I can’t recall all that was needed to be adjusted the first visit… but I do recall standing beside him praying that this would be the beginning of getting him the relieve that he so desperately needed… I’m trying really hard not to shout this from the roof tops and even teased her the last visit that she was here…… she should be PAYING ME…. Cause I’m starting to sound like an infomercial for her… HE IS 100% BETTER!!! HE HAS NOT HAD A COLIC IN A MONTH AND A HALF!!!! HE IS EATING AND GAINING WEIGHT!!! HE IS SHINNY FROM THE TIP OF HIS EARS TO THE LINE OF HIS CORONET BANDS!!!! HE IS NOT STANDING WITH HIS HEAD IN THE DIRT….BUT TROTTING AROUND THE PEN FULL OF LIFE…. HE IS MOVING BEAUTIFULLY AND FLUIDLY WITH LOTS OF FLOAT!!! MY BOY HAS RETURNED!!!!! OH HOW I MISSED HIM <3 SO GLAD HIS BACK!!!!! I can’t thank Shantel enough…. without her help I think the outcome could have been a very sad story…. When you think you have done all that you can and there’s nowhere to turn…. a miracle came…… and Shantel’s “get out of the box and start really listening to your horse” way of doing things made total sense once I started opening my mind and listening to my boy whisper…… We have a relationship that will last the test of time…and my horses absolutely love her… as do I! Thank you sounds so insignificant for all that Shantel has done for me and mine……. But THANK YOU <3
I had originally heard of Shantel through an aquaintance, who had amazing results with her horse after only one treatment. I was working in a professional public riding troop at the time and we had a horse with major hind-end issues. We had the vets out multiple times, they couldn’t find anything and blamed it on his faulty conformation. We had an expensive farrier come and give him corrective shoeing and special shoes, again no results. He continued to worsen to the point that he could hardly walk at all. We considered putting him down… I convinced the troop to try Shantel, and since most of them had never heard of an Equine Osteopath or a Chiropractor for horses, they were extremely skeptical. Shantel took one look at him and knew right away what the problem was. (Now heres where you might want to edit cause Im not exactly sure how to say what issue he really had) His hips were dislocated and rotated forward and downwards toward the spine. Through palpations she showed us, and even let us feel where his bones were sitting, as opposed to where they should be. She continued treating him, finding also that his heart was torqued sideways so the muscles on one side were atrophied and not working. He was only getting half the blood flow to his body that a healthy horse should get. She worked on his sternum and released some of the muscles to increase blood flow. Immediately his gums turned a healthy pink. By the end of the treatment our lame old horse was a completely new animal! Even his conformation had visibly changed, his hind legs were no longer post-legged and base-narrow. Shantel gave us homework, exercises and stretches to do with him everyday to build up the muscles he required to hold his hips in the correct placement. After a few weeks off and daily rehab our wonderful horse is now back as the lead horse in our public routine, traveling across Canada and showing off what he can do. Shantel saved our horse’s life, no question. After the vets and farrier told us he was a lost cause, ‘sell him or put him down’, she gave us our loving friend back. Her work was so incredible that we hired her to do the rest of our entire heard of 20 horses. Shantel was unbelievably professional and patient with all of us, answering all of our questions, and even letting us feel the different parts of the horse’s anatomy as she re-adjusted them. Thank you for saving our horse’s life and well-being of our herd, and teaching us a whole new way of looking at the horse!
I was first introduced to Osteopathy in 2009 and was amazed by the changes I seen in my horse transform before my eyes. Unfortunately the person I had work on my horses was no longer working on horses due to personal reasons. For a year I searched for a new Osteopath talking to practitioners asking questions and not finding one that I felt comfortable with. I didn’t just want any Osteopath I wanted a well rounded and knowledgeable Equine Therapist with years of experience and knowledge as I myself had gone through many chiropractors and massage therapists to know that it takes that special someone to get the job done right, I know too see an Osteopathy for my ailments. Finally a good friend of mine suggested Shantel… I asked “Is she really good? Does she have lots of experience? Have you used her before?” Shantel got glowing reviews so immediately I contacted her and we set up a time to meet. I was impressed within the first few minutes of Shantel just looking at my horse as she was able to tell what was wrong just by taking a quick glance. She worked on my horses and within a short time I felt that they we working better and that spark had returned. She also helped me save a young colt from phenomena without any veterinarian interference. I love using Shantel for many reasons. She is honest, to the point, very knowledgeable, willing to help, is there more for the horse than anything else, she explains to you in English in order to help one understand your equine friend. She is the only Equine Therapist I use. Shantel has kept my equines healthy from the inside out as well as increased my understanding and knowledge. She is always willing to answer any questions that I may have even if she is not out working on my horses. I highly recommend using Shantel!!
Shantel has helped me a lot with my horses. If they were deficient anywhere she would give me exercises to do that helped my horses perform better. My horses worked better after Shantel worked on them. Millionaire Paradise (Cheetah) even holds an arena record and was a short-go futurity/derby finalist many times. Not only did i love her work but my horses did too, licking their lips, chewing and sighing while getting worked on. Highly recommended!
I have been using Shantel Perreal’s services for the past 2 years and seen remarkable results. I highly recommend her to all my horse friends and they always call me with amazement at what she managed to do with their horses… The first time I saw Shantel, I had brought her a 10 year old QH Gelding that I had just recently acquired, I knew some things were off with him but not to the extent that was found, Shantel worked on this horse with an assistant for over an hour, in the process they changed his front leg stance, as his front legs were severely camped together, got his sternum off of his heart, put his diaphragm in the correct place which visibly changed his breathing, put his sacrum back to the proper spot (there was a large divot between his spine and sacrum) and got him able to turn his head to the left, among many other things, following this visit 3 months later. I brought this horse back to Shantel and she had to ask me what horse this was as the visble changes in him were amazing. Over the course of the 2 years that she has worked on this horse, he stays completely happy, and when she does work on him every 3-4 months there is not a lot she needs to fix. She has also eliminated my need to inject his hocks as he has a spot in his hock that pops out. I have seen her work on a large number of horses and get to the root of the problem that the horse is having, I personally will not use any other method of therapy after seeing the results she has produced in all of my horses, from my weanling to my 11 year old gelding.
